about

In our world today, freedom of speech and freedom of the press cannot be taken for granted, in developing countries as well as in developed ones, where daily measures are taken to discredit, suppress, and marginalize traditional journalism.
In response to this challenge, the Jerusalem Press Club, the Union of Journalists in Israel and the School of Communications at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, created an international platform for professional cross-border discourse on these topics.

The Freedom of the Press Conference is a unique event in Israel, that enriches both Israeli and foreign journalists through professional workshops that enable them to cope with daily challenges in their journalistic profession.
In addition, the conference offers an international dialogue with experts, to promote press freedom in Israel and around the world.
The upcoming conference, titled “Journalism under Siege,” while focusing on the issue of freedom of the press, will give journalists professional tools to cope with the challenges to this freedom.
