It has already become a tradition for the Jerusalem Press Club (JPC) to host the press conference for the annual awarding of the Genesis Prize. In front of dozens of Israeli and international journalists, Uri Dromi, Director General of JPC, interviewed world renowned violinist Yitzhak Perlman, recipient of the 2016 Genesis Prize and Academy Award winner, actress Dame Helen Mirren, who later moderated the award ceremony.
Dame Helen reminisced on her days as a volunteer in a Kibbutz, and when encountered with a tough political question answered simply: “I believe in Israel”. Stan Polovets, a Russian/American businessman and philanthropist, who is the Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of The Genesis Prize Foundation, told the press more about the Genesis Prize. The press conference ended with Dromi giving both Perlman and Dame Helen honorary JPC membership cards.
