WHERE JOURNALISTS MEET ISRAEL

Two State Solution: Reality or Illusion?

Two State Solution: Reality or Illusion?

On Wednesday, August 7, 2013 The Jerusalem Press Club hosted a panel discussion with Dani Dayan and Shaul Arieli entitled “Two State Solution: Reality or Illusion?”

Dani DayanDANI DAYAN is a statesman, orator, entrepreneur and the most prominent advocate for the Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria. A staunch opponent of the two-state formula, his stance on Israeli settlements is clear, they are here to stay and any future peace agreement will have to take that reality into account. He is a regular commentator in the international press, both broadcast and print and is frequently called upon to participate in public debates and panels at major conferences and universities. A recent profile in the New York Times described Dayan as “worldly and pragmatic” and “the most effective leader the settlers have had”.

Shaul ArieliSHAUL ARIELI is an expert on the Israeli-Palestinian political process and one of Israel’s leading experts on the demarcation of the future Israeli-Palestinian border and the route of the Separation Barrier. Arieli served as Deputy Military Secretary for the preparation of the official negotiations with the Palestinians and as head of the Interim Agreement Administration under the Rabin government and head of the Peace Administration in the Barak Government.  Since retiring from the IDF in 2001, Arieli has been involved in advancing an Israeli-Palestinian permanent status agreement, and was amongst the leading negotiators in the process that brought about the Geneva Initiative in December 2003.
