On January 17 – 2015, Carmi Gilon, former Head of the Israeli Security Services (1994-96), spoke at the Jerusalem Press Club about Jewish Extremism: Challenges, Threats and Solutions. Gilon, who in the early 1980s had arrested the “Jewish Underground”, spoke about the distinction of a Jewish underground – having an ideological basis which aims at undermining the current regime and replacing it with a state based on Halachic laws. Gilon lamented the fact that Israeli governments have been too tolerant towards Jewish terrorists.

Carmi Gillon (born January 1950) is an Israeli politician, chairman of Cytegic cyber security start up and a former head of Israeli Security Agency. Gillon has had a distinguished and varied career in both public service and in the business sector:
1972 – 1996: Command positions in the Israeli Security Service (Shin Bet)
1994 – 1996: Head of the Israeli Security Service
1997 – 2000: CEO of “Avner” Insurance Corporation
2000 – 2001: CEO of the Peres Peace Center
2001 – 2003: Ambassador of Israel to Denmark
2003 – 2007: Mayor of Mevasseret Zion
2007 – 2013: Vice President for External Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem
2014 – the present: Chairman and CEO Carmi Gillon Ltd
2014 – the present: Chairman of CYTEGIC (Company which deals in cyber security)

Carmi Gillon has many years of experience as a lecturer in both Hebrew and English. He lectures around the world (mostly in the USA and Canada) and of course in Israel. His lectures focus on security, politics and current affairs as well as general management, especially organizational management in times of crisis. His superlative knowledge and understanding of the Arab world, the Middle East and Israel’s geopolitical situation is widely recognized.
