Former Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, the first Laureate of the Genesis Prize, gave a press conference at JPC on Thursday, May 22. Mr. Bloomberg shared with the journalists the Jewish values which had inspired him all his life, and then handled with good humor the questions of the Israelis and the foreign journalists.
Stan Polovets, Co-founder and CEO of the Genesis Philanthropy Group, spoke about the origins of the Genesis Prize, and Wayne Firestone, CEO of the Genesis Prize, announced that the one million dollar prize will be invested in a competition that will promote new ideas for the promotion of humanity.
Uri Dromi, Director General of JPC, surprised Mr. Bloomberg when he gave him a JPC honorary membership card. The former Mayor asked what benefits he gets for this, to which Dromi replied: 25% discount at our restaurant. Mr. Bloomberg promised Dromi to use the card at the first opportunity.
