On February 8 – 2015, Albanian Author Ismail Kadare spoke at a press conference held at JPC, on the occasion of receiving the Jerusalem Prize at the Jerusalem Book Fair. Kadare spoke about the resemblance between Albania and Israel in general and between his hometown Gjirokastër, in south Albania, in particular. He lamented the fact that while literature speaks about ideals and high morals, the reality is much more brutal. He elaborated on a main theme in his work – liberty – and concluded that perhaps humankind is not yet ready for a true liberty.
