On July 1 – 2015, Eliezer Yaari, former fighter pilot in the Israeli Air Force, Executive at Israel Television and CEO of the New Israel Fund, spoke at the Jerusalem Press Club on his new book, Beyond the Mountains of Darkness. Yaari, who lives in the Arnona neighborhood in south Jerusalem, “discovered” the adjacent Tsur Baher Palestinian village, just few hundred meters from his home. While the village is associated with Hamas, he met people who care about supporting their families and securing the best education for their children. Eliezer Yaari is a writer. He is the former CEO of the New Israel Fund in Israel (1998 – 2010). Prior to that Eliezer had 22 years career at the Israeli Television Ch-1 where he served as a reporter, chief editor, head of programs, and an anchorperson, (1977-1998) . Prior to that Eliezer was a combat pilot, instructor and a pilot in the aerobatic team in the IAF (1967-1977). Among his many pubic activities Eliezer is also a member in jdocu.com and he also writes for some major newspapers and radio stations in Hebrew and in English.
Eliezer has MPA degree from Harvard University (Class of 1996). He published two fiction books: ‘Back to the Titanic’ (Short stories, 1990) and ‘Crossings’ (A novel 2005) and one documentary ‘Beyond the Mountains of Darkness’ (2015) about the life of the Palestinians in Jerusalem.
