On January 28th – 2015, Prof. Jerald Steinberg, Founder and President of NGO Monitor, addressed members of JPC, in light of the motion at the International Criminal Court (ICC) to start a preliminary investigation against Israel’s alleged war crimes during Operation Protective Edge.

Prof. Gerald Steinberg is Professor of Political Studies, Bar Ilan University,Israel and founded the Program on Conflict Management and Negotiation. He is also the President of NGO Monitor, a Jerusalem-based public affairs institute, which was awarded the 2013 Begin Prize. His research focuses on the changing nature of power in international relations, as reflected in Middle East diplomacy and security, and the politics of human rights and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Steinberg is a member of Israel Council of Foreign Affairs; the Israel Higher-Education Council, Committee on Public Policy; the research working group of the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), and participates in the Inter-parliamentary Coalition for Combating Antisemitism ICCA. Publications include “NGOs, Human Rights, and Political Warfare in the Arab-Israel Conflict” (Israel Studies); “The UN, the ICJ and the Separation Barrier: War by Other Means” (Israel Law Review); and Best Practices for Human Rights and Humanitarian NGOs, (co-author), Nijhoff, Leiden, 2012.
