On Wednesday, August 29, 2018, the Jerusalem Press Club organized a special tour to the Druze community in the north of Israel.
The group included 9 journalists from different media outlets.
The visit started with an exclusive meeting with Shaykh Mowafaq Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel, who highlighted the deep historical connection between the Druze and the land of Israel.
The meeting followed by a talk with Mr. Rafik Halabi, Mayor of Daliat El Carmel. Mr. Halabi expressed his disappointment of the new nation-state law that had passed few weeks before the visit. Later, the journalists met with Col. Anan Wahabi, IDF (res.), who presented the current developments regarding the Druze community in the Middle East, especially with the Druze in embattled Syria.
