On Sunday, March 9, 2014, The Jerusalem Press Club (JPC) hosted two prominent Jewish leaders from the Ukraine: Oleksander Feldman, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament and the President of the Ukrainian Jewish Community; and Eduard Dolinski, the Director General of the Ukrainian Jewish Community.
Feldman arrived to Israel for an emergency two-day visit amid heightening tensions between Russia and Ukraine. The purpose of MP Feldman’s trip is to brief Israeli officials on the conflict with Russia and to lobby for support of the Jewish community.
Feldman and Dolinski conveyed to the crowd of Israeli and foreign journalists gathered at JPC their dismay at the Government of Israel’s silence vis-a-vis the grave situation unfolding in the Ukraine. They also discussed at length the concerns of the Ukrainian Jewish Community, torn between antisemitism and uncertainty.
