On Monday, March 24, 2014, The Jerusalem Press Club hosted leading members of BTI (Breaking the Impasse): Kamel Husseini – Managing Director, Portland Trust in Ramallah; Stefan Borgas – President & CEO, ICL; Oded Gera – Vice Chair, Rothschild Bank, Israel; Gary Leibler – Managing Director, Shavit Capital Fund. The event, moderated by JPC’s director Uri Dromi, attracted many journalists, and generated a lively Q&A session.
BTI is a group of prominent Palestinian and Israeli business people and civil society leaders who believe in the urgency of reaching a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict along a “two States for two peoples” solution. The group calls on political leaders to attach the highest priority towards achieving a two-state solution and an end of the conflict between the two peoples. The group takes it upon itself to back such an endeavor and to garner domestic and international support for it. The group firmly believes that the desire for ending the conflict and establishing a two-state solution – Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace, dignity, security and mutual respect – reflects the will of the majority on both sides.
