On February 26th 2018, Prof. Shlomo Mor Yosef, Director General of the Population and Immigration Authority spoke at the Jerusalem Press Club, about the government’s policy regarding the illegal immigrants in Israel. Prof. Mor Yosef said that contrary to claims in the media and the public, the government is not intending to deport women, children and families, only single males who entered Israel illegally. He said that people who already left Israel (mainly to Sudan and Erithrea) went back to their countries of origin, and that the government is checking regularly that they are not thrown into dangerous situations.
