Joining many organizations all around the world, on World Press Freedom Day JPC held an event titled Remembering Fallen Journalists. Following a moment of silence, journalists spoke about comrades who have fallen In the line of duty. Eeta Prince Gibson, former Editor in Chief of the Jerusalem Report, spoke about Steven Sotloff, who has written for the magazine, and who has been brutally murdered by IS. Joe Federman, AP Jerusalem Bureau Chief recalled how when his cameraman was killed in Gaza, Palestinian, Israeli and foreign journalists joined together to bring his body to burial and rush his wounded colleague to an Israeli hospital. Luke Barker, Reuters Jerusalem Bureau Chief and the newly elected Chairman of the Foreign Press Association, reminisced about fellow journalists killed in Iraq, unfortunately by “friendly” American fire. The event was moderated by Uri Dromi, Director of JPC.
